Expert selection ·
Skills rather than the CV
A CV describes what someone has done, in contexts that no longer exist. A skill profile answers a different question: what can this expert do for you, now, in your context?
1. A CV describes a career, evidence describes a capability
A CV lists employers, dates and keywords. It says nothing about what the expert actually delivered, the complexity of the problems handled, or their ability to operate in your environment.
A skill profile based on mission evidence answers precise questions:
- Has the expert already delivered a system comparable to yours?
- Under which constraints: regulation, security, deadlines?
- How large was the problem handled?
- Which tools do they actually master?
- What is the quality of their deliverables?
2. CV and skill profile, side by side
| Criterion | CV | Skill profile |
|---|---|---|
| What is described | Positions, employers, dates | Missions, deliverables, context |
| Verifiability | Self-declared | Mission evidence reviewed |
| Fit with the need | Keyword matching | Assessment by a practitioner |
| Selection bias | Network, school, well-known employer | Anonymised assessment on substance |
| Availability | Unknown | Confirmed with the expert |
3. Anonymisation, a methodological choice
Presenting an anonymised profile is not meant to hide the expert, but to require an assessment on substance before form. The reputation of a former employer or school says nothing about the quality of a mission.
Anonymisation raises a simple question: if you did not know who they were, would you want to meet them? If the answer is yes, identity becomes a formality, disclosed with both parties' agreement.
4. What it changes for experts
CV-based selection favours careers that went through well-known organisations. It disadvantages unconventional profiles and discreet specialists, whose missions are nonetheless remarkable.
Assessment on evidence rebalances selection: an expert is chosen for what they can do, demonstrated by what they have done.
Judging on the evidence
AI, data and cybersecurity missions demand precision and verifiability. A skill profile based on mission evidence meets that demand better than a CV: it allows you to judge on the evidence.
